Free You Be You - Press Release

Free You Be You addresses bullying from a new perspective.  It was made especially for the victims. It has an upbeat message that helps victims celebrate who they are and lets them know that their pride is their best defence.  Our message:  the best way to free yourself is to be yourself.

Free You Be You is an MTV-style dance video that features hip-hop and pop and lock moves to demonstrate the spirit of freedom that every bullying victim wants and deserves.

Over 300 volunteers donated their talent and time to the making of the video and every single one wanted to show their support for bully survivors and let them know that they are not alone.

The original song for Free You Be You is a new anthem for the anti-bullying movement that encourages victims to dance to their own beat.  It was written by pre-teen singer/songwriter Amber Arnold when she was the victim of bullies.  Giving the mix an urban flavour, rapper Bulldog, himself a bully survivor, is also on the track.

Free You Be You was born the heartbreaking day I discovered that my daughter was the victim of vicious real life and cyber bullies. Thankfully, she was supported by her many followers on tumblr.  They posted messages of support, telling her how special she was and that they were there for her.  My deepest wish was to take this message to the world.  That's when fellow filmmakers David Mace-Kaff, Lauren-ann Smith, Tom McSweeney and Angus Ledgerwood got together to make it happen.  Ben Smart, triple world dance champion, provided the choreography.

The video is currently on YouTube:

The song is available on iTunes.

Our vision is to work to make the video go viral so that it's unique message of empowerment can inspire bully survivors worldwide.
